Pictures of the Week: Dec. 8-14

You can see the fear in this little girls eyes, and that look of uncertainty as she experiences something unlike anything she's ever experienced in her life. War caught up to her in her young life. Yet I think her face conveys a certain sense of bravery as she is treated by medics at Patrol Base Murray, near Baghdad, following a mortar attack in the town of Arab Jabour.  What I find interesting about this photo is that I have no sense that the photographer's presence was felt by anyone in the room when she took this shot.

Please take a look at all of this week's compelling images in our Pictures of the Week gallery.

I can't stop looking at this picture, it breaks my heart, I just want to hold this little girl and tell her everything will be OK.  It's these innocent victims of war that people in power should think and care more about, instead of whatever it is they think they're protecting/gaining/winning.  At what cost???????????

If you can't see Jesus Christ in this little girl, you're not looking deep enough.  Utz McMahon 20 Dec 07

Such a sad photo, but where are the photos of the good things that happen over there? You want nasty pic's watch as they cut the head off an American, look for the pictures of all the dead children the terrorists have killed, visit the pictures of the days after 9-11. Yea, hard to tell this is owned by CNN and it's close to an election.

THIS IS "SHOCK AND AWE". NO CHILD ON THIS PLANET SHOULD HAVE TO EVER ENDURE SUCH TERROR. WE SHOULD ALL REMEMBER TO HONOR EACH OTHER.THIS IS THE COST OF FORGETTING WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS AND PEOPLE ACTING ON THIER EGOS AND SELF-IMPORTANCE. CAUSE NO HARM!

There is more than fear in her eyes, the poor child is  terrified beyond belief.
